Privacy Policy

TripByCost is operated by William Addis. This page describes exactly what the site records. It is written from what the software actually does, not from a template.

What we collect

Your email, only if you give it. If you save or share a trip, or ask us to send you something, we store the email address along with what you were planning at the time — which page you gave it on, and optionally your origin airport, your budget, and the destination you were looking at.

Trips you save. Budget, origin, destination, dates and a title. If you use the share link, anyone with that link can view that saved trip, so treat it as public.

Outbound partner clicks. When you click through to a booking partner we record which partner, what kind of link it was, where on the page it sat, the city, and the time. These records are not attached to your name, your email, or any account.

Usage analytics, run by us on our own server. We record which pages are viewed, the site you arrived from with its query string stripped off, whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, your country, and what you searched for — budget, origin, destination. Those rows carry a random id that is created when you arrive and stored only for the life of the browser tab: close it and the id is gone, so nothing links one visit to the next. We do not store your IP address and we do not store your browser’s user-agent string — the country and the phone-or-desktop bucket are worked out when the request arrives and the rest is discarded. There is no third-party analytics service, no tracking cookie, and nothing here is shared with anyone.

What we do not collect

We do not store your IP address. Your IP is held in memory for up to one minute purely to stop a single client from flooding the signup and analytics endpoints, and it is never written to disk. There are no user accounts, no passwords, and no advertising networks. We do not sell or rent anything we hold.

Third parties

Our partner links are handled by Travelpayouts, which converts an outbound link into a tracked one so a booking can be attributed to us. The site also loads a Travelpayouts script that verifies domain ownership.

When you follow a link to Booking.com, Aviasales, GetYourGuide, Airalo or any other partner, you are on their site under their privacy policy, and they set their own cookies. We have no control over and no visibility into what they collect.

How long we keep it

Emails and saved trips are kept until you ask us to remove them. Click records are kept as aggregate business data.

Your choices

Email [email protected] and we will tell you what we hold about your address, or delete it. There is no form to fill in and no account to cancel — one email is enough. If you are covered by the GDPR or the CCPA, the same address is the way to exercise those rights.

Changes

If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
